As the Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Long Beach, I am the second-in-command of an office that handles approximately 14,000 criminal cases each year and directly supervise approximately 40 attorney and staff members. In addition to taking complex cases to trial, I oversee training to ensure that our attorneys enforce the law in an ethical, fair, and just manner. Additionally, I oversee our offices Appellate Division and, with respect to appeals taken by our office, enjoy a 100% success rate.
My experience, however, is not limited to criminal law. Indeed, as a Deputy City Attorney, I appeared in civil court, conducted multiple civil jury trials, and represented the City of Long Beach in hundreds of civil litigation matters dealing with Municipal Law, Administrative Law, Americans with Disabilities Act, Election Law, Fair Housing Act, Fair Employment and Housing Act, Personal Injury, Contracts, Civil Rights, First Amendment, Inverse Condemnation, Eminent Domain, Zoning, Public Nuisance, Injunctive Relief, Writ of Mandate, Wrongful Termination, Employment Law, Insurance Law, Adverse Possession, Appeals, Administrative Mandamus, Brown Act, and Environmental Law.
I feel that my 27 years experience in criminal, civil, and administrative courts uniquely qualifies me to further serve the public as a Superior Court Judge and look forward to serving in that capacity.
